As a Christian, you can hardly go anywhere anymore without seeing warning signs about the “last days” and the “signs of the times” which invoke feelings of doom and gloom, darkness, and the rise of the evil Antichrist.
While there are indeed signs all around us that we can see without much help and know that we are fast approaching the coming of the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, we have to be careful not to allow ourselves to become overcome with fear.
While there is great peril and danger in these days to be a True Christian and follower of Jesus Christ, we also need to remember that we serve a God who keeps HIS promises. We need to keep ourselves free from the FEAR that is gripping many in the Church and is motivating the world.
It is this impending fear that the enemy uses to get us to make really poor decisions and that is not God’s will. God does not want us making decisions and choices based in fear. Instead, we are called to walk by faith.
Yes, there are perils and dangers all around the world. Yes there are bad things happening in many places. Yes, there are people dieing everyday. But we can’t live our lives for Jesus if we’re physically or even mentally living in a bunker. This is NOT the way of the KINGDOM.
So many people have a “hunker down” mentality that is not only based in fear, it is contrary to the Gospel that Jesus taught us.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
As believers, our principle responsibility is to be a LIGHT in darkness and as the day grows dark, we must shine all the more. This is why it is SO IMPORTANT for us to gather together and encourage one another.
Why We Gather Together!
So many people are trying to become “lone rangers” and have disconnected themselves from any assembly of the church body. This is a product of fear and is NOT of God. It goes directly contrary to the scripture and ESPECIALLY the scripture for the last days.
If we are in fact living in the last days and we can see the day approaching, we should look to the scripture to see what we should be doing now. What does the scripture teach us that we should be doing since we are convinced that the Rapture of the Church can happen at any moment?
Hebrews 10:25 “Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near.“
I don’t know what could be more clear instruction to the believers in the last days than this passage. If we are wondering what we should be doing as we “see the day drawing near” this passage of scripture answers it so plainly, we have no excuse for disobeying.
The mandate is that we should gather together. But just going to an assembly of believers is not all this tells us to do is it?
The specific reason for gathering is also given to us so that we can know 100% that we are doing God’s will. What does it say to do? Encourage Each Other.
The reason why we need to gather is not just for the sake of “having church” but because we all need encouragement and strengthening in our walk with HIM as we approach difficult days before the catching away of the Church.
That is what Encouragement Church is all about. We are dedicated to making sure people STAY ENCOURAGED and walk in PERFECT LOVE.
Why is perfect love so important?
When you see people isolating themselves, hiding themselves away, and disconnecting from other believers, you can rest assured that there is a reason the it’s likely because of fear. Fear has a way of making us very selfish and self-centered in our decisions.
By contrast FAITH which works by love goes out of its way to be a blessing to others because, those who are operating in FAITH are not afraid.
Does that mean there isn’t peril? No. Peril is real. We understand the danger. It is not that we don’t recognize dangers all around but because we are made to be without fear that we can be effective for Jesus in these last days.
1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear expects punishment. The person who is afraid has not been made perfect in love.”
As we come together and worship together we are transformed in a way that we can’t attain on our own. We lose our fears and gain more of His Spirit and more of HIS LOVE moving through us to give us strength each week to overcome the challenges that we increasingly face as believers in this world.
If you’re seeing the signs of the times all around and are wondering as so many are … now what? The answer is simple. Assemble together regularly with other brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ and ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER like the scripture says.
Don’t give in to the temptation of the devil to “disconnect from the assembly” because you think this will be safer. It is contrary to God’s word. Instead, have confidence that God knows what you need and is encouraging you to do what each of us need in order to thrive in the day of trouble.
Now more than ever we need to heed the call of the Holy Spirit and gather together to Encourage One Another in love. That’s the heart of Encouragement Church and we are so glad you found us!
